Our Origin Story

Writer's picture: Aubrye CainAubrye Cain

For years David and I had a mutual dream of owning a small piece of land where we could raise our future family. Fast forward to the summer of 2022 during an intense buyer's market we were able to purchase an est. 1900 fixer upper on an acre of land with a detached "garage" and chicken coop. I had to do quite a bit of persuading to get David on board to purchasing this "project", he'll tell you now that he's happy I did so (at least that's what he's told me).

We spent about two months painting and getting the downstairs livable. By September 2022 we had moved in. The outside has been an on going project that we are chipping away at little by little. With having a lot more space than we are used to, to say we have been overwhelmed would be an understatement. Things like the placement and size of a garden, building a chicken run by spring, building a greenhouse for spring planting, and getting materials ordered and ready for 2023 have been the center of many discussions.

We can't wait to update everyone on our journey as we become familiar with the homesteading world. There's so much to learn, but were eager and excited for spring to come!
